Flying Witch Publications specialises in subjects surrounding religion, spirituality and magic as seen through history, sociology and anthropology. This includes arts, crafts, short fiction and poetry. We are also looking to expand our graphic art and music sections in the same subjects.
For example--your work may be
New material that presents an aspect of spirituality/religion, etc., in a new and vibrant light.
Comment on topical material within religion or the orthodoxy of your religion/Traditions.
An examination on the religious/spiritual/magical aspects or the sociological side of life--perhaps birth, death or marriage, even the cloistered orders.
In depth examination of a particular figure within your religion/magical discipline.
An academic thesis or dissertation on an area of magic, religion or spirituality
All material should be presented on undecorated A4 white paper: double-spaced; ragged right edge, with an accurate word count and a short biography (50-100 words). If using a word processor--please use rich text format (rtf) for your hard copy AND the disc!
Any accompanying photographs/illustrations should not be embedded into the text, be in black and white with an accompanying note stating the relevance, what the illustration/photograph depicts and the copyright notice. If quotes or illustrations are to be taken from other works, please obtain the original publisher's permission for us to reproduce them prior to sending us your typescript. If there is a problem obtaining this, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.
Do NOT send us your only copy of your work. Whilst we are as careful as possible with your material, we cannot guarantee what happens whilst it is in the hands of the Post Office or Couriers!
We do not accept unsolicited typescripts by email or 'snail mail' and cannot guarantee their return.
Needlecrafts:
Please contact us direct with your ideas before consigning samples to the post. If you inform us of your telephone/email address etc., we can discuss the technicalities of needlework and cross-stitch programs.
Art Work
We are currently developing various Greetings Cards for Rites of Passage and Spiritual events. Please send photocopies only with your covering letter.
VERY IMPORTANT--Please note:
When we are looking at offering contracts we are greatly helped in our decision making if the author has done their own market research before they write the book or send it to us for consideration. When you send your synopsis for a proposed book, or a sample chapter of something you have already written we need to know if there is anything else on the same/similar subject on the market already, by which author/s and publisher/s and how your work is different to theirs. If we do not receive this information, we have to check for this information ourselves, which greatly reduces the speed at which an acceptance or contract may be offered.
